Difference in Unbuffered and Registered?

I am waiting for DDR333 to hit the markets, but looking at the KingMax website they show Unbuffered and Registered DIMMS. Is that the same as ECC and NON-ECC? Also which is preferred these days. Mostly for gaming machines and Internet browsing. Light business apps as well.
