uh oh..
i made a stupid choice.
just ordered an asus a7m266 with amd1600xp
does these 2 work well together?
does a7m266 suck?

l need an older cpu so l can flash the bios so it will recognize the athlon xp..l have a k6-2, wonder if that will work

They would work together, and probably the board you ordered will come with the proper BIOS, dont worry. Else you can always borrow a AMD chip just to flash the BIOS, there are many AMD users around these days!

BTW the K6 wont work on the A7M266, its a totally different socket and technology!

I have the A7M266. With the latest BIOS update, any of the XP series will work fine. Even if you do not have the update, it will boot. It will just not utilize SSE until you get the latest BIOS.

:tongue: Have you ever tried cooking an egg on your HSF? Tasty. :tongue:
