Mafia 2 fps problem

What the hell,today i play mafia 2 and i only get 20-29FPS?

I am playing on max settings whit VSYNC turned OFF.

I normally had 61-72+ FPS yesterday or some days ago.

What could be the problem? please help

No patches.

What kind of softwere/hardwere you mean changed?

Benchamark is 34-36fps isnt that quite low for such a rig?

there's no kind, ANY software (programs/drivers/OS/settings/etc) or hardware (well duh it's hardware) changes could have caused this. You tell me what you've done, we can figure out if it could have caused bad performance or not.

as far as benching, yeah it's probably low for your rig, but just staring at it and yelling OMG IT'S LOW FPS doesn't help you to solve the issue.

The only change i did was install ASUS ALSUITE FAN EXPERT,it lowers the sound of the cpu cooler.

Some updates were installed like "Microsoft C++ 2005 Redistributable" and a service pack for windows 7.

Nothing much.

and the last two could easily be causing some issues, especially win7 service pack, but I don't know the details of what is installed for the SP thus I cannot help you determine if that is the cause.

If you have Phsyx turned on 20-29fps is probably about right, you should be getting close to 60 though if physx is turned off. Mafia 2 is physx heavy, it's the only game I've found that will run better with a dedicated physx card than it will with SLI enabled.

Cpu temp at idle 29 or 29.5.

How can service pack be cause of the problem?

Try completely uninstalling the video drivers and then reinstalling the latest drivers for your card.

Also, if your fan is more silent that means it is not cooling like it was before, less RPMs. That may cause your CPU to be overheating under load. What is your temp. while playing the game?

Strange,i reinstalled windows,applied new thermal paste now,and the cpu heat when i play mafia 2 is currently 25c changing to 26c max.

That's very cool for a cpu under load, so that's not the problem. hmmm

My bad,it only held at 25c because i didnt to more processing things in the game,it depends what i do actually.

I saw it changed to 35 then back to 27 then to 41 then back to 27c.

I think 61-78FPS

Shadows off and Vsync off.

Everything else is maxed.

Yes,but im worried that the game might start getting no more than 25Fps+ again sometime.

Other than that,at the moment the issue is solved,this thread can be closed.
