I purchased a PC that was suppose to have a BIOSTAR M7VIB-A mother board with the VIA KT266A chipset. When I boot the PC the BIOS screen shows that the model number is VIB1025B and the serial number is
10/25/2001-VT8366-8233-6A6LVB0BC-00.
The SiSoft Sandra 2001te utility reports that the System Mainboard Model is M7VIB and the System Chipset is
VIA Technologies Inc VT8366 Apollo KT266 CPU to PCI Bridge.
I can't find any indication that the chipset is a KT266A.

Is there any software that will positively identify the chipset? If not where do I look on the motherboard? I would prefer to just use software to identify the chipset because the PC case has a seal on it, and the warranty of the PC will be voided if I break the seal unless the builder of the PC is present.

Thanks for your help,
Paul

The via vt8366 apollo is the kt266a chipset. Same for my shuttle ak31 version 3.1 in sisoft sandra.
