I'm looking into buying a new processor motherboard combo and I came across what looks to me as a very good buy.
On pricewatch, it comes out to 174+shipping for Athlon 1600 XP, PC Chips M830LR motherboard /w SiS 735 and 10/100Mbps Ethernet on board.
The website for the motherboard is http://www.pcchips.com/index2.html.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I'm on a budget, so I'm not looking for the best stuff, just something decent.

Try it. My brother uses a pc chips board for his k6-400. The sis 735 chipset boards from ecs/pcchips/amptron are very similar. The ecs board has a higher rma rate than some, but is still very popular. Buy it from a reputable vender, in case you have to rma it.

I would agree, also, make sure that you have a good namebrand powersupply with at least 350 W. most of the problems that occur with this board are becasue of a bad powersupply, also make sure that you have a UPS battery backup system in place, this will futhur the life of your system and keep your data safe during a sudden, brief power outage or blackout.

If it works for you then don't fix it.
