Here's my tail of woe. After reading the Summer Case Review, I purchased an XPider case over the internet. It was missing the 4-bay HDD cage that was pictured and described in the review. I did a little more research and found out that the 2-bay and 4-bay cages are "optional" on the XPider. I'm planning to build a RAID 0+1 array in my machine so I need to be able to hold 4 3.5" drives.

I went back to the vendor I bought the case from and he apparently can't get a cage from Chenbro, nor can he get a new case with a 4-bay cage in it. I tried a couple other places and nobody can get the optional HDD cages. I'e also tried to contact Chenbro but haven't gotten an answer from them either.

I'm wondering if anybody has managed to get an HDD cage for thier XPider? Or has any idea where to get one? I'm not very happy that Chenbro provided a review configuration that doesn't seem to be generally available.

Thanks,
Steve

Email me.

I will arrange to hook you up with this. It isn't a problem, but I have to have an Email address from you to make it happen.

Oh, as to your other point... this is false.

The configuration that Chenbro provided is the correct default configuration for the case. Dealers and distributors can order it in other configurations, that is where the trouble comes in.

The new color boxes that I just saw in the Chenbro factory in China clearly indicate the configuration of the case.

When they are built, they are built to order based on the order that the dealer or distibutor places, nothing more.

So, in order to shave a few bucks off the price some dealers and distributors are ordering configurations that drop the 1394 or the hdd cage for example to reduce the cost. Most every case they ship also does not have a power supply either, which even Chenbro admits can lead to problems because they exclusivly use Sparkle or Fortron FSP power supplies.

At any rate this is just a side note on the situation and I can honestly tell you since I was just in their factory watching Xpider/Gaming Bomb cases being made that this is a dealer/distributor issue, not a Chenbro issue.

As another side note, Chenbro is looking at not allowing this in the future because of the confusion that it is creating for the consumer.

Thanks for the offer and info. After 3 dealers were unable to obtain the part I just assumed it was a Chenbro issue. I really like the case, so I'm glad to hear that I was wrong.

I'll send you a private message with my e-mail address.

Thanks,
Steve

I have been trying to find these HDD cages as well. I bought three cases from an online retailer, one had the 2 HDD Cage, and the other two didn't.

I need to find two more of the 2 HDD cages for the cases that didn't come with them. I went to the Chenbro website and found the part listed under accessories for the PC611 series cases but other than that i can't find them anywhere. I contacted every dealer listed under "Where To Buy" and none of them had them, and they said they couldn't supply me with them, etc. I also sent a email through the website to the sales department last Tuesday and no response, i sent an email to their tech support department as well hoping to rattle someones cage but no response yet.

I also tried calling the phone number listed under contact us and got put on hold and transferred numerous times and finally hung up the phone from frustration.

I did find one online retailer selling the 4 HDD cage for them, but that doesn't work for me, i need the 2 drive cage to keep the area under the cage open, we have some custom components being mounted below the drive cage location on the bottom of the case.

After a lot of google searching i came across this old post, so i signed up so i could post and hopefully find these darn things. Anyone have a source or??
