Cold Cathode - Help

I just bought a vantec uv cold cathode, and the power connector that comes with it seems to work with a 12-volt connector. I tried connecting the cathode connector to my mobo's 12-volt power and chasis fan connector, but neither worked.

Am I missing something here? Am I supposed to connect it to something else?

I have a Asus a7n8x deluxe rev 2.0
Sparkle 350watt supply

Any help would be appreciated.

Well since ultra violet is invisible to humans, I wouldn't know why you would want one of those in there. What are you using to determine the luminosity? ie. maybe it is working and you just can't see it.

maybe it requires an inverter or ballast of some sort. I notice that most of the kits contain some inverter for changing 12V to ? many hundreds of Volts.

No. A DC 12v to DC 600v. Cold cathodes run at very high voltage, they need an inverter to go from 12v to the super high voltage they use.
