I have just assembled a new PC with:
Asus A7M266
128MB PC2100 DDR
Athlon 1000
Geforce2mx
250W power supply.
When I turn it on everything seems to work perfectly except that the monitor won't turn on, and stays in standby, or if I turn it off and then on again it says "no signal" and then goes into standby again. The video card is working because I tried it on a different system. What else could it be? I left all jumperd and dipswithces in the motherboard to their default settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Omar

If you've tested your video and it works fine with another monitor, then the problem probably lies in either the monitor or parts of it. Check the cable, for example. Check the pins on the adapter. Try plugging it into another system.

No, the monitor is perfect. It works on other computers and so does the video card. There are 3 components that could be faulty: the mothreboard (A7M 266), the CPU or the DDR RAM. Any idea on how to figure out which one?

Other than try putting them into other computers, I don't really have any idea :(

Your vid card works on other pcs, have you swapped out the moniter on your sys?, could be a connection problem

Have you tried all your whole system with another monitor?

It could be the power supply not being able to power your PC.

SEARCH FIRST, THEN POST

The problem you describe is call a NO POST. Even if the fan start spinning the computer is not running.

The computer did not even boot up to bios.

Make sure your ram is in correctly + the Motherboard is jumpered correctly. Some MB's need to be grounded to even post as well.

So how would I "ground" it?

You'll need to take the motherboard out and install the 1/8'' seperator, that'll make sure the mboard isn't touching the case which could cause a short (even fry your motherboard).

Please, correct me i'm wrong.
