Do they exist? I currently have a enermax 460 p...ve something or other and it claims something around 30db which is a quiet wisper, I can here is and its not loud, but its definitly not a wisper either (and yes i have it on its lowest setting) (controled by a nob on back). Anyway, I'm making a pentium 4 2.4 ht system with a neo2-fis2r board. It won't have anything but the basic conponents, hd, a few fans, video, cd burner. I was thinking something in the 350W-400W range is what I want. Anyone have any P4 PSU suggestions which are TRULY quiet and trustworthy?

Fortron has a "350W" power supply (actually peaks much higher) with a single 120mm fan on the bottom that should be an optimal design for low noise, you can find it for around $35 at newegg.com.

Captain Obvious says the only way to get a truly Silent PSU is to remove all fans! Normally a practical imposibility.

If you are moderately skilled the captain suggests you could replace the PSU fans with quieter ones.

I think it should also be obvious that a 120mm fan can provide equal airflow at lower RPM than an 80mm fan and thereby remain quieter.

I have the Fortron 300W PSU in two machines and a third to go into the next build I do for someone. That 120MM fan is extremely quite.

If you've got some cash, look into Seasonic, the fan doesn't fire up until 50% system load which is great if you're just surfing the net, and when it does fire up you need to put your hear right next to the case to hear it.

Corsair also has the same feature and they're also a bit cheaper, look into the "Green" series that use less power and are normally around 380w-500w
which is good...
