Just wanted to know people if the psu in a Antec SX1040 Performance Series II 400w will be fine for a computer l'm building (first timer).

P4 3.0G
Asus P4C800 Deluxe
120G sata seagate
60G 100 ATA IDE
1024 3200LL Corsair ram
2 burners
AGP card either QuadroFX 1000 or FX5900

More about : psu

The PSU inside the <A HREF="http://www.antec-inc.com/specs/perf2_1040b_spe.html#" target="_new">SX1040B Case</A> is the Antec SL400.

Here is a link for the <A HREF="http://www.antec-inc.com/specs/sl400_spe.html" target="_new">specs on the SL400 PSU</A>.

It should be more than enough for whatever you want to do with that case/PSU combination.

I have an antec SL400 that i got in a case. After only 13 months I have to replace it because it's 3.3v line is running at 2.9v causing extreme instability(random restarts anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes of the comp running). It might be enough watts but in my experience with this PSU the quality is more of a concern than watts.

I would have to agree, the "True" series of power supplies seem to be very good across multiple units, where the other such as the "SL" series are a lot more problematic.
