Mandatory contract extension for new promotion???

Being under contract until March '06, customer service
has informed me I have to extend my contract 9 months,
until Dec '06, to get a current promotion. (100 bonus FS plan)

If the minimum contract for the current promo is 1 year,
and I'm committed for 15 more months why shouldn't I get
it without extension?

I've personally changed contracts without extension in the past,
and I've heard rumors of others getting this promo without extending.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any suggestions on how to
get the current promo with extending? I've called CS twice now
without luck although I haven't asked to speak to a supervisor.

Thanks,
S mac

Speak to a supervisor. I have no idea what the situation is currently
but your understanding is the way it worked in the past.

I have run into this same issue when I speak to reps in some of the Eastern
billing regions... If your contract is more than a year out they make you
push it out to two years to get a promo plan. If it is less than a year out
they make you push it out to a year. This is COMPLETELY different from my
experience in the western regions.

When I ask agents in the western region about it they are dumfounded and
tell me that should not be the case... Obviously Verizon has different
policies in the different regions!

As long as your "plan" is still offered you may change the amount of
minutes up or down without having to extend. It's when they are
offering a new "promotion" such as the 100 minute bonus you are
required to extend your contract.

My previous family share plan only included unlimited calling from the
secondary lines to the phones in the family share. When they changed
to unlimited in network for all phones in the family share I had to
sign a new contract because they considered it a new promotion. Those
that were paying an extra$10 for that feature were not charged for
that after it started and did not have to extend.

I didn't think it was fair either but it was only a matter of a few
months difference in my contract length. The in network did make a big
difference though.

Isn't the 100 bonus minutes only for one phone on the family share?
This is not meant in a negative way but does the 100 bonus minutes
mean that much too you? If it does and you're happy with Verizon and
that plan then don't worry about it.

The Web page specifically says "100 Bonus Home Airtime Minutes to
Share". This sure seems to me that they are boosting the shared pool of
minutes, essentially, for example, making a 400-minute plan into a
500-minute plan.

Yes. I saw that after my post. It was originally reported by posters
in the Howard Forums that it was only for one phone. Guess I should
have checked first.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I wait until after my 1st year is up, I can get them to
"extend" me for 1 year?
(wouldn't mind a few week extension...)

Of course the promo would still have to be available...
