My brother surprised me today by telling me he's getting Crysis 2 for me this Xmas. It's the one game I've been wanting to upgrade my rig for. I'm buying an HD 6850 next week, and I know that will handle the game well at my res, but I won't be upgrading my dual-core CPU for another 8 months or so.
The CPU benchmarks I've found online seem to conflict. TechSpot and Tom's Hardware show very different average fps in their CPU benchmarks. Guru3D shows it runs fine in dx9 but not so well (still playable) in dx11. And a few YouTubers have claimed to run the game at 40+ fps with an Athlon II X2.
Does anyone have experience running Crysis 2 on a dual-core (not i3) rig? I don't want to be stuck playing at 20fps until I can scrape together ~$100 for a Phenom II X4.
