Rackmount cases

I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience using a rackmount case for their "case mod"...or if you dont, why not? I am a little worried about the cooling (especially with a 1U size). Is there anything I should know about before trying to put a mid/high-end desktop into a rackmount? what minimum U-size do you recommend? I was thinking 1U is a bit too small (for both component and heat reasons), and 2U seems to be ideal. the 4U is just getting too big and desktop-like. Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. 3U is the smallest size to support full height cards in standard position. 3u is a bit tougher to find than 2U or 4U, but 3u is ideal for such a project.
