Hello,

I'm looking for a new case, and it proved to be very difficult.

I'm going to place the Western Digital Raptor hard drives in it, but the problem with them is that they get hot and noisy (10.000 rpm).
To counter that i'm going to place them in 'cooldrive 3' HD coolers. Those are 5.25" so I need a lot of those drive bays.

So I'm looking for a case with a lot of 5,25" bays (6 or more) and NO external 3,5" bays.

But then I get a very high case. So a case in a cube form would be ideal. I looked in the Yeong Yang cubes but they don't have the look I seek.

I don't want a door and I would like to see a cube that looks like 2 towers welded together. So the drive bays side by side in 2 vertical rows.

If anybody has an idear that meets my requirement or maybe get close to them, please let me know.

Thanks,

Bram

I haven't looked lately, but http://www.caseoutlet.com used to have some interesting stuff.

I'll take that back, I just looked there, perhaps a case such as This would be more to your liking?

Dunno where you got that idea from.
http://www.storagereview.com has reviewed both the 36 and 72Gb models and have found thier heat and noise levels comparable to 7200rpm drives.

I found one guys,

The Lian-Li PC-6077... Here's a review http://www.ocia.net/reviews/LianLi [...] ntro.shtml
It has 9 5.25" bays in a midi tower!
Read the review... it's really good.

Thanks people,

Bram

I am just finishing up part 2 of the case review which will feature a lot of cases.

Should be finished later tonight and run next week at some point.

Whoa... thats a loada 5.25" bays!
(at the expense of 3.5" and internals that is.

Makes sense though, few people have more than one external 3.5" drive (floppy/zip)
