I was originally interested in the Antec TrueBlue 480W model, but there are a disturbing number of reviews on NewEgg.com that involve exploding PSUs. What are some other solid brands, and should I really worry about this potential Antec problem?

Fortron power supplies are more durable, last longer, and provide higher overcapacity (over the rating) than Antec. I recommend their 350W unit for most users at it outputs over 400W and has a nice 120mm fan. The next model up woult be their 400W, then their 530W. Other sizes (460W, 550W) are server supplies and have a longer than standard connector. So 350W, 400W, and 530W are you choices, the $42 350W unit is more than enough for my system (P4 2.6@3.2GHz, various SCSI drives, IDE hard drive, 1GB PC4000, AIW 9600 Pro, etc).

Buying Antec buy their True Power. That's their best.

I was originally interested in the Antec TruePower/TrueBlue PSUs @ 480W, however when I read some reviews on NewEgg.com, about 10% of them involved exploding Antecs with or without additional destruction of motherboard. So I am a little wary of them right now.

OK, don't buy it then. Forton and the relabeled versions are also good, like Crashman said. I have 1 of each.

I have 430W True Power from Antec. It's running my OCed 2.4C since July.

over c,
I have read the same and am also concerned to some degree. I have decided to go with the Enermax ATX Noisetaker 470 watt model EG475P-VE SFMA. This is SATA ready and comes with a separate 12v lead for a video card, plus it will run for 2 minutes after the computer is shut down to help cool off the PSU after it's been used. But unfortunately it goes for $99. at Newegg.com...........
