Hey all,
I'm looking for a gaming headset, putting a car on the road this Christmas, I've got a rather limited budget. I'm looking at around $65 or less to spend, and I'd love to have 7.1 surround but 5.1 is acceptable as well. Top priority is comfort, then sound quality, then mic quality. I'd prefer over ear. Please find something that's over ear.
Thanks in advance!

How about the steel series siberia v2. I have read good reviews on them. I am planning to get one myself as soon as I can afford it. I especially love the NAVI edition. :)

I wouldn't buy a "gaming" headset. You're better off with normal stereo phones IMO. You should look into Dolby Headphone, more specifically an Asus Xonar DG for virtual surround. It's the same software that headsets like Logitech G35 use.
Check out this thread: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envy-aka-shin-czs-guide-to-headphone-gaming-particularly-with-dolby-headphone or http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1285726
It might be tough getting an audio card in your budget though, since you only have $35 left over for headphones.
Here are a few options:
1. Samson SR850(Superlux 668b) w/ Xonar DG = $75 (+/- $5)
2. KSC75 w/ Xonar DG = $45 (suprisingly good headphones for the price, superb budget choice IMO)
3. Creative Aurvana Live! w/o sound card = $60 on creative website
As for the mic:

I'd recommend the first two options. The CAL! aren't as good for gaming as the first two although they are a better choice for music.
