Does bf3 run better on quad core? Im planning to upgrade to a phenom II x4 955 be and maybe oc it. And im also planning on upgrading the ram to 4gb? Would there be any performance increase? On screen resoultions like 1025x768 and 1280x720?

This is my setup and ive been getting bad results lately having 25-40 fps but mostly 29 fps

Amd athlonII x2 250 oc
Nvidia gtx 550 ti
3gb ram
Wndows 7 ultimate 64 bit

Im jelous of your video card.

But anyway, the reason you get low fps is because you are getting some bottlenecks.

The cpu is proably too weak to hande such a videocard.

Well ofcourse you will get a better performance whit a quad core,i upgraded my intel core q9400 to intel core i7 950,and i have been getting better results.

The only problem is at the moment that i have a GTX 465 1GB,which i think is pretty decent thease days, but i dont have any cash for a better videocard at the moment.

So yeah,at the moment im 90% sure you are getting a bottleneck, and if you upgrade your cpu,you will not get any bottlenecks because the cpu will be more powerfull to work whit the Video Card.

Actually i was also just about to upgrade to the 4gb ram. I only have 3gb. Should i just buy a phenom II x6 1055t and stick with e 3gb ram?

Intel Processors are dominating right now,but a phenom X6 would be as close as to any i7 except i7 extreme editions.

Yes since you have a AMD motherboard,i suggest you buy the phenom x6 and buy 2 more GB ram.

The more RAM on a 64Bit system the better.

4GB Would be alright, but 6GB Would be better.

IF you are tight on the budget, just buy 1 more gb ram and the processor.

Honestly, and imho, a hexacore CPU wouldn't be of much use as there aren't many titles around as of now (maybe one or two, I dunno) which truly utilize 6 cores. You might as well go for the Phenom IIx4 955 Black Edition (Quad Core).

Heck, they've only just started utilizing quad cores. :) God knows when 6 cores will be effective for gaming.=, surely not in the near future.

I don't think you will get that much more performance by gettin a quad core CPU. It will help, but Battlefield 3 is not cpu-intensive. It depends mostly on your graphics card, and from what I heard the gtx550 doesn't handle bf3 very well.
