I stopped by a local Radio Shack tonight and they had a full-page
advertisement/handout
regarding the 100 bonus minute promo.
Couple things from that document:
1) New 1 year or 2 year agreement required. (note that 1 year is
sufficient)
2) "Bonus Minutes apply for as long as you remain on the plan you selected"
(I also received one of the Verizon letters indicating that I had
changed my plan.
It had a start date. Under expiration date it says "Not Applicable" )
Anyway, this is very cool. It appears that if you get this promo, you
can keep
it if you don't change plans.

PS: There have been several folks here who mentioned different experience
(2 year contract required, and contract extension). The offer may vary by
market.
I'm in Oregon/Western market so if you're in the East, you will need to
doublecheck.

I called customer service to change my plan and I was given 100 bonus
minutes per month just for extending my contract by six months. so I get
1300 minutes for 66 bucks/month. I get an employer sponsered discount. Not
a bad deal. If VZW is good in your area that is. YMMV
