Hi all, just got my new system up and running. Thanks for all the great info I've picked up here! Everything seems to be working fine thus far, except my machine did spontaneously reboot last night. My old machine did this every once in a while too so I suspect it may be a piece of hardware.

Anyway I want to check my voltages and make sure everything's OK. I've got an Abit NF7 which comes with some monitoring software but I'm not sure how good and/or accurate it is.

Anyway, let me get this straight.

1. My +12V, +5V, and +3.3V should all be within 5% of it's spec correct?

2. I have an XP 2500+ cpu 1.65V. What voltage range should it be in?

3. Any thing I'm missing please let me know.

My specs:
I just upgraded from my old HP Pavilion 500mhz system so I used some of the stuff off of it for the time being. I will be upgrading these parts in the coming weeks.

AMD Athlon XP 2500+
Abit NF7 V2.0 Motherboard
Fortron FSP350PN PSU ($42 newegg)
512MB Kingston Dual DDR400 PC3200 ValueRAM
ATI All In Wonder 128 16MB PCI graphics card
Mitusmi Floppy Drive (pull from HP pavilion)
HP 8000+ series CD-RS (pull from HP pavilion)
Western Digital 15Gig HD (pull from HP pavilion)
Seagate 4.3 HD (old hd I used to backup some stuff on)
3 case fans (2 out in back and 1 in on side panel)
56K Modem

CPU core, ram, agp voltages and 3.3V should be within 5%. Others (5 and 12V) should preferably also be within 5% but those are usually not critical for system stability. Normally I would accept 10% for those. Negative voltages are almost unused in modern PCs. Some sound card uses them for analog ciruitry. Highend soundcards have local power regulators to filter out noise. In either case these rails probably never affects system stability. 10% tolerance one those is more than adequate.

its been my experience that the nf7's hardware monitor is right on with what mbm5 shows...so its safe to say you are getting pretty accurate readings. Also the psu you are using is very good quality so i wouldnt suspect it...

your on your way to a good system so far
did you do a clean install of the operating system ?
I wouldn't suspect the power supply , I'm using one as I type ( good Quality )
