When I try to access the Device Manager by:

System Properties: Hardware: Device Manager

I get this error message:

Snap-in failed to initialize,
Name:Device Manager
CLSID:{74246BFC-4C96-11D0-ABEF-0020AF6B0B7A}28/Mar/2005 23:57

I click OK, and the following screen appears:

Device Manager [Title]

X Snap-inCreation Failed.

The snap-in is not created; it may not be installed properly.

Name:Device Manager
CLSID:{74246BFC-4C96-11D0-ABEF-0020AF6B0B7A}

What do I need to do about this?

Hi srd,

D/load and run the fix provided by Kelly Theriot:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm (scroll down to line 107,
right-hand column -->Restore the Device Manager)
