1) I've recently re-formatted my computer. Now, when I boot up the computer,
I have to manually choose (<enter> ) microsoft xp, before it chose it
automatically. How do I get it to do it automatically?

2) I think I downloaded SP2, but not sure. How do I check it on my computer?

Thanks for any help,

Your boot.ini file should look something like this:

timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS=@Microsoft Windows XP
Professional@ /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

Press the WinKey (the funny looking mostly useless key that is down near the
ctrl and alt buttons on a conventional keyboard -- it looks like the Windows
Logo usually though some say start) Press the PAUSE BREAK key at the same
time (or just hold WinKey and the Pause/Break) and a system properties
screen will popup.

There?

Good...

Does the first tab say "Service Pack 2" on it? No? Then you don't have SP2.
Yes. Then you have SP2...

While you're there... Tick advanced under the startup and recovery options
fix your boot.ini with a handy little GUI. Get rid of the account that you
don't use by setting one as default and getting rid of the time to show the
list or edit it manually and just remove the one you don't want. I find the
manual editing easier.
