Hooking up my PSU?

Hi everybody,

It is my first time building a computer, and I have a question regarding the best way to supply power to my components.

Basically I was wondering if I should hook up my hard drive and cd drive on the same set of wires (1 wire but 2 outlets), or should I preferably use 1 wire per device regardless that it has 2 outlets (connectors) and I could theoretically use it for both devices.
Does it even matter?

Thanks,
Amar

Ps. I am asking this question because as I understand for EIDE devices it is better to let both of them have their own cable, even though I could theoretically set them to master/slave and need only one. I was wondering if there is some similar rule for connecting the PSU.
