My mother is wanting a case where she does not have to bend down too far to turn her computer on... any recommendations... under or at $50 would be great... black...
never seen one, put the case on the desk. or run a lead wire from the power switch pins on the mobo, put a switch at the other end and put it up on the desk, glued to the monitor perhaps.

now featuring valve security module!
I use power on by keyboard, because my case has this stupid door and looks terrible with the door removed (plus the door houses the fan controlls).

Look in APM configuration or similar power management section of your BIOS. Mine just has two quick options, on by PS2 keyboard or on by PS2 mouse(think I also need to change onjumper on motherboard for it, runs 1amp of +5VSB to keyboard to allow it to work as a switch)
Like the last two guys said, you don't need a special keyboard, you enable this feature in BIOS. My BIOS provides options as to which keys I use to power the system up, I could use the spacebar (except that I have cats), CTL-F1, etc. Mines set to CTL-F1. My last board was set to CTL-ESC, and required a jumper to be moved on the motherboard to keep the keyboard powered up with the system off.
Both board's BIOS also had the "Power Key" option, just in case you DO have one of those "special" boards.
