PSU fan problem

I recently purchased the game Far Cry. As many of you know, this game requires some heavy duty hardware and power to render those beautiful graphics at the highest settings. My problem is my PSU fans. They are spinning too slow @ around 1500rpms. This is too low since when I play the game, my cpu, video card, ram, sound card etc. are sucking a lot of juice from the psu. It gets VERY hot. This causes my whole case to rise in temperature, which is dangerous.

I have a Thermaltake PurePower 420W psu. I checked in my cmos setup to see if I could adjust the psu fan speed but I could not. The psu fan speed is in red which means it is low. Is there a way I can increase my psu fan speed so that it doesn't overheat?

what is your reasoning for saying it gets hot? are you physicaly feeling the heat or are you relying on some software? do you have any other case fans?

If you ahve 7 case fans and the power supply fan spinning at 1500 is enough to supposedly cause your whole system to heat up, then you have some really crappy airflow. Mine makes it up to 54C right now during Far cry, with psu fans around same, a single case fan, passive cooled northbridge, p4 3.2. And only reason it gets that hot is cuz my freaking apartment's AC is messed up.

And the fact that the bios, or any particular program says that 1500rpm is too slow means absolutely NOTHING. Many PSUs, particularly ones concerned with lowering noise, such as your Purepower or my Noisetaker, purposefully run the fan slower to keep it quieter. The only thing I can really see with your power supply that might possibly be a problem is if one of the fans burned out(if memory serves, the monitor wire on that one, and most others I use, ie antec tru/smarts,) only monitors the rear fan, not the one on the bottom of the PSU. If the one on the bottom of the PSU isn't turning, then that might possibly be a problem. But I'd guess the automatic temperature control is working jsut fine, just that Thermaltake and your motherboard manufacturer have different ideas of what a proper speed is for a motherboard fan.
