Using fan controller positioned in (front-side) 3 1/2 inch bay. Connecting two
rear and two front side fans to it. Don't want any fan cabling going through
the middle of the system. Wonder how others handle this.

Do you use electrical tape with the fan cabling against the side of the case?
If so, are you concerned about the side of the (metal) case being too hot? Is
nylon tape (or standard tape) better than electrical?

Same questions seem to apply to a lesser extent to hard disk (+ cd-rom) cabling.
I'm planning on using cable ties for oranization, but still want to keep the
layout clean. Ideas...?

zipties are your friend, use them. they do a fantastic job and dont interfere with electrical signals b/c they're nylon. so you can use them to bind power cables or usb cables, or ide cables; whatever you want. i have about 10 zipties throughout eavh computer i build.

dont tape cables to your side panel, what happens when you want to remove it? however if you thought of this, then use duct tape, it holds forever and matches the case interior.

I've got a book of matches,
I've got a can of kerosene,
I've got some bright ideas involving you and me.
