Hi group,
In the past year I have lost the following pieces of hardware to power surges during electrical storms:
Video card
Power supply
Hard Drive
Enough is enough. After losing the video card, I upgraded the crappy $15 dollar surge protector I had to a seemingly sturdier ~$60 version. About a week ago there was another storm and my hard drive died.
Anybody recommend a decent UPS? I am not concerned so much with the ability to save data during a power failure (This is my home computer and I don't do any data critical work); I am extremely concerned with the units ability to protect against power surges and spikes. Note also that this is only for one PC; I don't need anything with a huge capacity.
Suggestions?
