430W enough for 320064 9800xt and WD Raptor?

SPECS:
3200 64
ASUS k8v SE Deluxe
HDD: 10000 RPM Raptor SATA, 200gig SATA, 120gig
9800pro (soon to be 9800xt or x800)
Cd-RW and floppy
Antec 430 True Power
5v: 36A 12v: 20A 3.3: 28A

I'm wondering if my antec 430 is enough because once I installed the 9800pro my 250gig SATA drive won't be detected by the promise array utility when booting. I was wondering if the Raptor (10000RPM) along with the other two HDDs, the 320064, cd and floppy, and the 9800pro (which may be an x800 soon enough) is too much for the 430.

motherboard(0.3A), processor(7.42A), fans(0.25A each including PSU fans), hard drives(2A each), and disc drives(0.8A cd-rw;1.1A DVD) all run on the +12v rail. According to what specs you gave, your +12v rail should require about 15.52A assuming you have 4 fans total(PSU, CPU, and 2 case). With 20A on the +12v rail your hard drives shouldn't have a problem. Your video card runs on the +3.3v rail and you have plenty of power there so I don't think that should cause any problems either.

so the 10kRPM HDD doesn't require any more power than the others?

Well I don't know the exact power consumption of your specific components, but those are numbers for general components. I would think most 7200 rpm drives are around 2A and the 10000 rpm may be a little higher, but you should have plenty of headroom for that. I'll check the power consumption for that raptor...I just ordered one myself :)

Wow, 15 whole seconds to find the information on WD's site, very easy to find.

Okay, here it goes. I guess it actually uses the 12v and 5v rail. Bare with me, I just started researching power supplies myself. My previous knowledge was from a simple table I looked at showing hard drives as being 2A on the 12v rail. The Raptor documentation as I read it says the most amps it could use on the 12v rail while reading/writing is 0.3839 and the most it could use on the 5v rail is while idling and that is 0.8085. So the numbers I used initially for the 12v rail were actually conservative. It doesn't sound like a PSU symptom to me anyway, but then again I've never really had any problems with power, and my first SATA experience will be when I recieve my raptor. And for etp777: Some people use this forum because they need help, believe it or not. They may not know how to interpret the documentation even it does take 15 seconds to find.

To change subject. You have 9800Pro. But X800Pro. It's cheaper than 9800XT and a lot faster than 9800XT.

The power supply should not give you any problem. Some Dell P4 computer only have a 250 Watt PSU.
