If there will be something that can take my system down, I would might call it a worm, otherwise, it is just a kids playing with kids (literally;)

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

If they keep at it too long, one might suspect them to be gay (not that there is anything wrong with that).

Do you think MS techs are behind this worm release, just to emphasize the need to upgrade to Whistler or Viva le Vista?

They traced it's origins to the US..

But a patch was already released for the error. It's just you need to have SP4 on W2k to get the right patch for it.

Just like other viruses that came out mid-last year, SQL Slammer for example.
