Problems with running MS Office 2003 with Windows 7

Hello,
I have acquired a new laptop with Windows 7. I installed my Office 2002 software and then installed the 2003 upgrade which I was told would make the Office compatible with Windows 7. My system runs quite happily when using Word and Excel but after a period of time Outlook gets slower and slower, it takes ages to attach a document from Word and eventually I have to reboot when I reach the stage of the system freezing for 5 minutes at a time. Does anybody have any thoughts on this please.

Disable the link to Instant Messenger in Tools > Options > Other.

Also turn off the speech recognition and the handwriting recognition - http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823586

See if those steps help speed things up.
