Hey everyone,

im running winXP at 1600x1024 @ 85hz on a 19" monitor with a GeForce 6800 Ultra. As a result ive had to turn on extra large fonts and also increase the dpi to 120 in order not to be squinting at the screen!

problem is that certain dialog boxes or input forms dont disaply all the element as the "container" is too small to fit the contents. e.g. for winrar, when you choose to create a new archive, i cant see anything below the "compression method" dropdown. All the spanning options etc dont fit. This is just one example of many. Sometimes even labels on forms are clipped on the right hand side (coz i guess the developer(s) only made it a certain size, and now the font is too big to fit it in)

Its getting pretty annoying but i really do need to run in high res as i am a developer and you know how much screen real estate some IDEs can take. Any ideas on how to sort this out.. or am i just stuck with it?

secondly, since 1600x1024 is not in 4:3 aspect ratio everything is elongated vertically. so when looking at pics for example, all the people look thinner and taller than usual. Any way to fix this or do i have to change to a res with a better aspect ratio? *grrr*

As wusy said, 4:3 with that rez ain't going to work real well.

Could always drop down to 1280 x 1024.
