Speakers only play dolby digital

I have 2 different pairs of speakers that for some reason. When connected only play sound that is Dolby Digital. For example during a regular movie, I don't hear the voices but I'll hear some of the sound effects.

I'm rather confident that this is an issue with windows 7 but I can't seem to figure out what setting is causing this.

Any assistance is most appreciated.

Go into control panel and check the sound / speaker / mixer settings. If you only have two speakers you do not want it set to 5.1. it needs to be set to stereo or 2.1
