hi all
A friend of mine has given me his pc to sort out as he is getting random crashes in games.
he has upgraded it but he has keps his old case and psu
not sure what make case it is but it sayes on the psu that its a 300 watt switching psu and it about 3 years old.
There is alot of other things i need to check but how likely
is it the psu is the problem.
MSI KT6V
amd 2800
256 pc3200
gf mx440
Im going to put 2 80mm case fans in it
Sounds like you have a pretty mild setup, it should work fine...but if you make any additions, do any OCing, or get a more powerful video card....I'd definitely upgrade!
It could be a bad power supply, check the voltages.

hi
In my own pc I use an Antec trueblue 480 psu
and i think its a great psu but I know its a wast of money putting this psu in this machine. Do you think an Antec 330watt would be ok or should I go for the 430?
thanks
If you go with Antec and it's not a "True Power", it's a False Power, that is their cheaper supplies are just as bad as many other cheap supplies.
If you really think you need a new power supply I'd go with an FSP350 from Fortron Source, Sparkle Power, or Aopen. These power supplies produce nearly as much power as Antec's True Power 430, and would be far more than you need for that system. They cost around $40.
