ok so it starts up, shows the COMPAQ screen and then goes to a black screen
with a white cursor.... but i can't type anything...the only thing i can do
is press ctrl+ALT+del to do it all over again or press f10 during the start
up to get to my bios but that doesn't help any...i dunno what to do...when i
press f8 nothing happens and i can't get boot disks online cuz it gives me an
error when i try to save to the 2nd floppy.... so is there anyway i can do
this without the floppys?

If you got your copy of Windows with the Compaq system then it is their
responsibility to provide technical support.

If you are not even getting to the first Windows XP startup screen
then your problem is most likely a hardware issue rather than a
problem with Windows.

If your Compaq warranty is still in effect then you should contact
them regarding this problem. Otherwise your best option would
probably be to take the machine to a repair shop.

Good luck
