When I try to log in to a Counterstrike V1.5 (retail) server with Half Life V1.0.0.9 (I think) the server says I need a version of Half Life. However, after updating to the latest version of Half Life, I can't get the think to server to show up on the list of servers.

I am running a 10MB ethernet network, with one machine being a K6-2 450 running Windows 98 SE and the other a Athlon XP 2600+ running Windows XP Pro. Bear in mind this these machines could see each other in Half Life before the update. I also checked that the machine could see each other on my network, which they could.

Second, at a recent LAN I had to install JK2 under 98 on the XP 2600+ because my friends (who are running 98 and ME) couldn't log on when I tried to run a server under XP.

Any suggestions? Does JK2 not work for XP/98 matches?
