Quiet Power Supply?

Forum CPU & Components : Power Supplies, Cases & Mods Quiet Power Supply?

Word :    Username :

I am currently looking for a quiet power supply...and just want to know if anyone has one and can make a recommendation?

I Current System Has:
-Antec Sonata with Antec 380 watt power supply (too loud at high loads)
-Asus K8V SE Deluxe modded with a big (Zalman NB47J) heat sink for the Chipset
-Athlon64 3200+ with Zalman CNPS-7000 AlCu (On PSU fan speed)
-1Gig Corsair (Value) Ram
-ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with Zalman ZM80C-HP cooler with 5V fan
-2 120mm Antec case fans, 1 on 5v and other on PSU speed control
WinTV PVR 250 and SB Live! Value :)
3 120 GIG HDD'S (1 WDC and 2 Seagate [not too quiet :( ] )
2 Loud DVD Drives (i can live they are not on all the time)

Now what I am looking at are some options like
- Antec Neopower 480W
- Antec Phantom 350W
- Zalman ZM400B-APS 400W
- OCZ POWERSTREAM 520W

If anyone has any of those or one that is quiet and i mean REAL quiet please help me make a decision

Thanks for any help

My Antec True550 is 100% silent even under load. When I first installed it I thought the fans were broken because I didn't hear anything. It is just damned quiet :)

i see you have a Radeon 9800 over that anything is quiet.....i got that big zalman thing for the reason...i am sure the true550 is a PSU...i mean i REALY like antec stuff....but might be too loud for me......but you never know...with that kind of power it may never need to use the fans at a "loud" speed...
thanks...

If you take a look at my pics you will see it is liquid cooled :)
I don't have anything below a 120mm fan runnin in my case (besides the psu) so it is pretty quiet.

The only factory made liquid cooled psus suck and making one yourself is a risky and complicated buisness. Lots of power supplys are very quiet now days so I wouldn't worry about it to much. If you were a noise phyco and didn't want a single fan in your computer you might do the liquid cooled psu.
I can't hear my True550 at all so that is quiet enough for me :)

from and Aspire. I find the Neopower to be extremely quiet. The noisest thing on my rig is the Twin Raptor Harddrives.

If you mean CPU by computer, that means your processor is overheating!
