The reviewer's analyses of the PSUs in this test left a bit to be desired - missed the trees while searching for the forest.
. The Enermax PSU is at the top of the SFX form factor among respected brands. It certainly is NOT weak. It claims to be capable of 240Watts on the 12V rail alone (which, of course, greatly depends on the load on the other rails as always). None of the others in the test spec that high. The HighPower/Sirtec cleaims more total Amps across its TWO 12V rails but only 220Watts! IAC, it should be able to handle just about any socket A or Intel P4 uATX mobo/CPU combo worth having.
. The Codegen claims 300 total Watts, yet if you add the rails up, they don't come close to 300W. Besides which it lacks BOTH UL/RU and TUV certifications. And the 12V rail is pathetic for any modern mobo which must power the CPU from a P4-12V (or other 12V auxiliary) connector to make my "A-list". So you wouldn't find one in any system around here!
. So despite its minor shortcomings, the Enermax Venus series has become my benchmark in its form factor largely due to its great PSU (which usually brings over $50. all by itself). Did you notice the rubber fan mounts?
. So at least his conclusion got it closer to correct.
