A "P4 ready" power supply simply means it has the extra 12v connector that P4 machines need. You dont need that on a PIII board so just tuck it away somewhere. The main ATX power connector is the same.
Certainly, as long as the slot-1 board is ATX. And the chances of you having a rare AT form factor board are small, besides all the AT form factor boards of that erra had provisions for both AT and ATX power.
