HP CD-Writer in win2k

Has anyone figured out how to get the HP family of CD-Writers to work in win2k?!? I have the 9100 plus model, and it's just not working at all, no matter what I do. HP says that the burner works in win2k using the default win2k drivers, but the adaptec software doesn't. I've tried many different programs, such as dart and cloneCD, but none of those work either. Is there some kind of workaround I can use here??

I've used a 9110i in Win2K before using Adaptec 2.5/3 (I forgot which) that came with the CDRW. It worked fine, but that was quite a while back then.

Have you installed the latest ASPI drivers for the drive? In Win2K all burners are treated as SCSI devices, so you need to install ASPI manager drivers to give your software control over the drive.

I have uploaded the same ASPI drivers I'm using for my drive HP drive http://www.atthestripe.com/downloads/aspi32.exe
I have had no trouble using any burning software in Win2K after installing these drivers. Good Luck!

The adaptec software can be difficult to setup, but this is what works for me: install Easy CD 4.02 (or later) and Direct CD 3.01. Don´t try to install any older versions because it will probably get you a blue screen. If you have to install a version of Easy CD lower than 4.02, install it (DO NOT RESTART) and then apply the patches to upgrade your installation to at least 4.02. The same applies to Direct cd: do not restart until you have applied all the patches
