Hey everyone.

I was just wondering what everyones views where on weather it's best to have your case fan blowing air into your case or blowing air out of your case?

Me myself I would say blowing in for the fact that it would bring in cooler air from the room then blowing out.

Ideally it is best to have one of each. Exhaust up high in the back and intake down low in the front. If your case has only one fan in the rear it should be used to exhaust the warm air.

Youve got the right idea. Like previously stated, you still need an exaust fan , but some PSU's have a strong enough exhast system to do the job. I started off with the rear fan as the intake and front as the exaust. Then I decided to turn the front fan in also. This proved with my setup to be the best.

The key is airflow. It wouldn't make much sense to have a rear intake fan if it's located near the psu exhaust. Typical setup is front-intake, rear-exhause. With all the mod cases, you have a plethora of options. Personally, my main workstation has separate exhaust air ducts directly to the hsf, gpu, and memory. This keeps their heat from warming up the rest of the case. The drive bays get intake from the top fans (x2), and the mb gets intake fans (x2). The front intake (x2) are variable speed and I have 120mm exhaust below the psu.

Then thare are of course endless possibilities as sobelizard
describes. My favorite one is to have an intake from the side ("door") of the case, blowing cool, fresh air directly onto the CPU. Just remember that hot air rises :) so put exhaust fans high.

If you wanted to cool only the CPU and let the rest of the system sizzle, you could put a rear intake on with the PSU exhausting, it would blow the cool air over the CPU at least.

Best method is as Crashman said - have rear intake blowing air over CPU, plus however, have another intake peferably at bottom of case, so that the case is slightly pressurized positive.

In this way there is more air molicules absorbing heat, plus more air is forced out of the PSU cooling this further.

Also, since the CPU air intake is near the PSU outlet, if possible a seperator should be fitted between the vents outside of the case to stop hot air being draw in.

My pre-filter would fill up fast with that scheme of a bottom intake. I have a sprint husky dog and a persian cat.

I bet that if I would have a 200cfm fan underneath it, my pc would swallow your persian cat :p
