Just a simple few questions regarding the
/key ring command in EQ1

1 if I actually loot any rings from mobs ei, "a stone ring" this appears on
my /key ring.

can I destroy the ring, or must I keep it?

also having done a hedge event, does such a key to PONb appear on my key
ring , cos it appears not to be there??

Rings don't appear on a keyring, keys do...

If the ring happens to be a key, and you have used it once to put it on
your keyring, then, yes, you can destroy it.

That is a flag, not a key.

The way the keyring works is that any key that actually goes on the
keyring (not all do), will be put there automatically, when you use it to
open the door/zone into the zone that the key is for. After it is on
your keyring, you can delete the key. You will get a message that it has
been added to your keyring, and you can see which keys are on it by using
the /keyring command.

The key only appears on your key ring once you've used it.

> can I destroy the ring, or must I keep it?

In theory, you can destroy it - it won't leave the key ring. However,
the more paranoid players realize that if there's a software glitch and key
rings are erased, there's no way to prove what was on there except
indirectly. I think I still have my VT key in the bank, even though I could
have destroyed it ages ago (and really, if I could destroy it off the key
ring I'd do that too).

Hedge gives a flag, not a key. Flags don't show up on the key ring.

PoNb IIRC is a flag not a key.

Nope. First, rings aren't usually keys, and won't go on your keyring. Some
are, though, like the Ring of Torden in BoThunder. Second, a key goes on
your ring when it's used, not when you loot it.

>can I destroy the ring, or must I keep it?

If you see the key on your keyring, you can destroy the actual key. As long
as you trust Sony not to do something stupid. Personally, I've destroyed all
keys on my keyring a few days after first use, and don't expect any problems.

That's not a key, it's a flag. Keys would have been so much easier and
straightforward for PoP, but they decided they wanted something brand new,
buggy, and hard to figure out.

Note that there are actual keys that never go onto your keyring as well, so
be careful. Don't destroy any key (or ring, which might be a key) unless
you actually see it on your keyring.

Once a key is on the ring, you may destroy it.
