XP Explorer File Open very slow when Printer/Fax on same l..

I could not find why files selected from exploere became very slow to open.
After reading XP performance and maintenance, I got a tip to do with
printer/fax software. I became clear to me that the slow file open started
after I started using the fax on my new Brother printer/fax MFC-210C. Based
on the Slow File Open post, I suspected the fax function.

The Brother MCF-210C shares the same phone line as my PC, and it has a FAX
DETECT function.

After switiching FAX DETECT OFF on the Brother fax/printer, .... pronto
problem solved.
