Click Start>Settings>Control Panel>Tools>File Type.

JPE
JPEG
JPG

All have the following: Paint Shop Photo Album 5 Picture

I access My Documents>Rt Click a photo>Convert Format>Save As Type: JPEG.
It produces another Paint file. All photographs are Paint Files.
New computer, have yet to install Paint 5.

Please advise how to obtain JPEG or JPG.
