What Is EPS

Sorry that this is a newbie question but anyway, What is EPS and what does it do ???
Eg. "Compliant with SSI EPS 12V and ATX 12V 2.01 Version"

The EPS12v power standard is what ATX 12v 2.01 is based on. Basically before ATX 2.01, there was the same 24-pin power connector, but used for servers.
