Would you agree that a good power supply should be one of a custom builder's top priorities?

What are you thoughts on a buying a cheaper, generic brand?

hmm well... overkill psu <- it's better to have it and not need it than it is to need it and not have it.

i have many bad experiences in the past using generic psu and mobo with bad capasitor plague. abit boards seems good today, and fortron psu is also a good brand, can't never go wrong with it now. it just i never trust again in taiwan caps and alot of my fortron (300W - 500W), tt, are modded to get it caps replaced with rubycons/panasonics caps.

my bottom line, i very agree with:

Any P/S can fail I don't care what brand it is, but some of the El-Cheapos are a disaster waiting to happen, that can take out other components when they fail, the main thing is what do you want hooked up to those expensive components you're running, I would suggest Enermax, Fortron, Thermaltake, Vantec, and although THG doesn't look too promising with their Antec testing, I've got Antec P/S's in 2 machines and they've been running for 2+ years without any problems.
