What is this in BF3

When I play BF3 sometimes this symbol pops up. It has happened about 6 times since the newest patch that has came out, it happened around twice before the patch. When it happens it lasts from 10 seconds to about 2 minutes. When it happens I cannot move it freezes and when I shoot my gun it has unlimited ammo.

I cannot tell what the symbol is exactly cause of jpeg blurring, neither do I play the game so haven't encountered it.

but, from what you describe, sounds like connection issues icon.
