compaq presario 6000 playing dvd's

i'm not very computer literate. we have a compaq presario 6000. we can play
cd's but for some reason we can't play dvd's . should this model be able
to play dvd's? when we load one specifically a music hybrid, the dvd never
spins up. is there anything i have to load to get dvd's playing or does
this machine not play dvd's? thanks.we have real player loaded.

You might see if you have the proper software to play DVD's.

Some software installed on PC's does not play DVD's.

We like Cyberlinks software.
