Hosting a Minecraft server

Last response: in Video Games

Hey guys, the other day I tried to host a minecraft server for me and 2 friends but the connections were terrible. It was so bad that my mate had to host it instead. My upload speed according to speedtest.net usually sits around 0.35 mbps. My internet package says I should get up to 0.4 mbps. If I wanted to host a server would I need to purchase a better internet plan?
Thanks

I tried it, and if made my connection for Bf3 very poor. I've rented one from multiplay for 3 months (£16), many addons available, much easier in my opinion.

And fewer concerns with giving people access to my network through hamachi or whatever

I'm sure there are other providers, just google 'renting minecraft server' they would have had me setup in minutes, but it took till following morning (I signed up at night).

You've got full kick/ban priviledges, you can also tag a mumble server on for free so you can talk at the same time. let us know how you get on.
