I have a Radeon HD 4850 1GB video card and was thinking about upgrading to a newer card to run games like the Witcher 2 and Crysis 2. I'd like to run them on at least high but before I buy, is there a way to squeeze out some of my card's potential right now? This person on youtube manages to run the Witcher 2 on ultra with my card (with ubersampling and ssao off). My monitor's resolution is at 1680x1050 so that might impact how well I can run the Witcher 2 using the 4850.

Maybe, is it time to upgrade?

Edit:
Here's the video with ultra settings with the 4850

The rest of my specs are:

MSI 890FXA-GD70 (it came with one of those crossfire bridges, never tried for many years)
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W (here's the link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006)
AMD Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8GHz quad core
4GB DDR3 ram

DM186

Splendid
Wow your MOBO has 5 PCIe x 16 slots. Ya you can CF all right up to 5 times. And your PSU is enough to handle another 4850. It is easy to CF, just put the second card in and use the little jumper thing.

run it from the one card to the second card. Just make sure you have the cards in the right slots your user manual for your MOBO will show you which slots. If you are happy with your card now then buy a second one.

But if your budget would let you upgrade. Then I would buy the 6870 and OC your CPU to hit about 3.4 and OC the card or buy one OC'd You could play those games on high. If you can afford it buy two of the cards.

I hope this helps a little and thanks for posting your specs by the way nice rig. Good luck to ya.

Can anything handle this game in Ultra? I got a asus p8z68 v-pro gen3, 16gb corsair vengeance, 3gb OC 7950 sapphire, i7 2600k and it would stutter in ultra. What a disappointment....new pc, first game I tried and still couldn't max it out. High was smooth though at 1920x1200

DM186 recommendation is good for the OP's needs.

Do you have ubersampling on?

I get 60 fps in 3D with my i7 950 and 2 X SLI 570's on ultra (ubersampling off)

Ubersampling is too demanding, I left it on, cause why not?
But with 2 3gb GTX 580s oced to 915-1830-2200.
I had 45-60fps depending on how much was going on in the game. 1080p, Haven't tried at a higher res since I completed the game.
