I know thats redundant grammar, anyway I cant figure out why my NIC stays on even when the comp is off, even my router shows it connected, my other PC does not do that. Its not a problem, I just wonder why it does that.

Maybe it is one of those wake on lan ones. I think they are supposed to do that.

If nic have wake on LAN then it's light will stay on even you shut down the computer.

When you shut down a computer it is still on in most cases. There is still power going to the motherboard and systems, and it is recommended you unplug a computer to work on it. NIC cards, Keyboards, Mouse activity, IR devices, phones and other things can wake a computer up so to speak.

when you see smoke is that a good sign?
