Hello folks.

What are the cheapest brands/models of 10/100 Network Interface Cards (NIC's) that are just as reliable/good as the more expensive ones?

I suppose I might use it to network two home computers together, so that files may be passed easily from one to the other.

Oh, and can you tell me what other uses the home PC user might want and get out of a 10/100 NIC?

Thanks much!

I use linksys $15 NIC's(10/100). The oldest one I have is about 5 years old and it still works fine. I have heard the more expensive ones are more reliable, but for $15, take the cheap ones.

I have good experience with Linksys and D-Link.

Yeah, I agree with the others, for $10-15, even if something goes wrong you could replace it twice with the cost of some of the other "better quality" NIC's. A home user uses a NIC to connect to most high speed internet connections...ie:cable modem, DSL, etc. Or like you mentioned, to move files easily from one machine to another.
